Rinnovo/Microblading

Microblading

What is Microblading?

“Micro” means extremely small and “Blading” means use of a blade. Microblading is a micropigmentation procedure using an instrument with an extremely small blade called as a nanoblade. In this, hair like thin incision strokes are created along the eyebrow to attempt to either enhance, reshape or create a natural looking appearance of the brows. The nano blade is dipped into a pigment that has been matched to the natural hair colour and skin tone and then glided along a sketched outline of the brow that has been drawn on and scrutinized beforehand. Whilst only penetrating into the upper skin, the pigment is deposited simultaneously with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a natural looking feathered outline. Over time, the strokes can blur and fade and will then need a touch up.

There are many techniques of microblading. There are 1D Eyebrows, where the strokes all go in one direction. There are 3D Eyebrows, in which the strokes are created in a specific pattern across the eyebrow ridges, creating a 3D effect. At Skinzest Hair Clinic, we practice the 3D Eyebrow technique.

Is Microblading Painful?

Most of our clients experience little or no pain. We leave a topical anesthetic on the eyebrow area for 20 minutes before we begin the process, so this leaves most clients numb during the procedure. Additionally we inject local anaesthic just before the procedure so as to make it absolutely comfortable during the procedure.

Pre-Procedure Restrictions

The following restrictions are required so as to make sure that your skin is in the best possible condition to achieve the optimum results.

  • Avoid exercise on day of the procedure as the body heat may expand the pores.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure.
  • Do NOT drink coffee or anything with caffeine the day of procedure.
  • Do NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, omega-3, unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to the procedure
  • Do NOT drink alcohol 24 hours before the procedure.
  • The following treatments should avoided within four weeks of the procedure:
    1) Neurotoxin or other fillers
    2) Chemical Peels
    3) Laser treatments
What to Expect During and After Your Microblading Session

Procedure details:

  • Microblading is performed only by a trained dermatologist.
  • The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, usually by applying an anaesthetic cream but may require local anaesthetic injections in some cases.
  • Before starting the procedure, the eyebrow is drawn with a skin marker. The shape and thickness is drawn after a detailed discussion with the patient and then approved by him/her.
  • The pigment colour is chosen based on the patient’s skin and hair colour.
  • Multiple thin hair-like strokes are created with a nanoblade which is dipped in the pigment.
  • The entire procedure usually takes 1-2 hours.
  • A touch up is scheduled for 3-4 weeks post procedure wherein faded out or left out areas are covered.

Entire healing process usually takes 2-4 weeks time but varies from person to person. During this time, the eyebrows go through several phases of change.

The pigment appears very natural looking immediately after the procedure but the color of the pigment will appear much darker on the next day. There may be some amount of swelling for 1 day due to the anaesthetic injected. There will be crusting and scabbing over the treated areas between 3rd to 7th day which eventually falls off by 7-10 days. It is important to remember not to rub, scratch or pick on the scabs otherwise it may hamper the results. The final look becomes apparent usually by 3-4 weeks after the procedure.

As the skin undergoes natural regeneration, after the healing phase, the brows might appear lighter and there might be loss of strokes in some areas. This is absolutely normal and is the reason why we call the client back for a touch up between 4-6 weeks post procedure. This touch up is complimentary as part of your session.

You can now enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows which has completely changed your appearance!

Who Should Avoid Microblading?

While microblading is great for almost everyone, there are some people who are ineligible for it:

After Care

The post-care of Microblading is extremely crucial to the appearance and longevity of the eyebrows. Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure.

After 5-7 days, gently apply the post-care ointment with clean hands. This can be done once at night time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post-microblading procedure:

  1. Increased sweating
  2. Practicing sports
  3. Swimming
  4. Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  5. UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  6. Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
  7. Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  8. Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  9. Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  10. Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab
